If you have followed my blog and journey for a while, you would know design is a passion of mine. I love creating spaces that are unique, meaningful, and functional, and I really look forward to sharing a lot more of this in 2025 with The Hummingbird Homes with different projects we have been working on and will continue to do! I have not peeled back all the layers, but we are called The Hummingbird Homes for a reason and a meaning for Brandon and I. I knew without a shadow of a doubt hummingbirds were going to be incorporated into her room and space. When I design, I always like starting with an inspiration point, and for her room, it was the wallpaper we used on the ceiling! Then it is truly a collated room of pieces that mean a lot! My lake home didn’t have a spare room, so we decided to convert my office to her room so that she would be on the main level close to us as well. It was an easy move, sticking my home office in the loft upstairs, which was empty anyway. Our actual offices are at Vision Properties 1926, but I like working from home, too! In the future, this room can easily go back to our home office, which is why we selected the glass doors that we did instead of solid when we added doors to the entrance.
I have shared my boys ‘ nurseries on this very same blog. It is crazy to think this blog is 15 years old. I wrote words and shared pieces of my life, my work, and so much more here. It has allowed me to connect with so many people, and for that, I am grateful. But if you had told me that one day I would be doing a little girl’s nursery for myself, I would call you completely crazy, and I am obsessed. I hope you love it as much as I do… okay, okay enough… here is her room!!!!
Without further ado! Baby girl’s room!! ( I shared the before at the end). This has always been one of my favorite rooms in the house. It overlooks the lake and has the best views!!!
Plants as so much depth to room! These pots are just collated over the years. The dancer is a custom piece from GigiDavis Studio. I came across her work at Scott’s Antique Market and was like, “Brandon what do you think it is really feminine?” He said, “well dear, we are having a girl!” It is the sweetest and softest piece and I love it so much! I just hope this little one always stands tall for her dreams and “dances”!
The Wallpaper is Cole and Son Hummingbirds Pastel.
Curtains are custom. I took the mustard color from the wallpaper and I am obsessed with them so much! This room has all the light which I love but these blackout curtains will be so nice!
Wall color is Underseas by Sherwin Williams. SW6214 (matte on the walls, satin on the trim)
I just love it. I have always wanted a round bed! I got this bed and the dresser off Facebook Marketplace! It is Restoration Hardware! I knew I wanted this exact bed, and I kept searching, but I was not originally thinking white. This full set was posted, and I was there immediately. It was for sure meant for us! I got such a good deal, which homegirl does splurge here and there, but I love saving when I can!!!
Light Fixture Crate and Barrell Lia Pendant! I have gone back and forth about whether this light is too much, but it is staying for now! It is a little extra, which I guess is the part I love. It also softens the space and emulates the dancer’s outfit.
The rocking chair was also a Facebook Marketplace find! An antique. I had been on the search, and this one popped up once again, which was meant for us. This chair has an entire story in and of itself, and the original owner wrote it down and dated it, and all these items will stay with the room. I had a cushion made for it and I just love this corner.
The table is another antique found at Scott’s Antique Market. It is tiger wood which is rare and with all the variations of wood tones in the room it tied them all together!
The light figure is Pottery Barn is the Tear Drop. It adds the perfect dancing light and a little bit of bling!
The real butterfly has a note on the back and is a gift from the person who shopped with me for a lot of these items, Abby.
Artwork on this wall. Gold frames are HomeGoods and right now have our maternity session in it, but we will change to be pictures of her when she makes her debut.
Mirror got at Scotts Antique Market, it is circa 1870-1890 from France. Brandon’s girls went shopping with me one day and we came across the two Hummingbird pictures which we loved. They literally both found one in two different spots and they belong together! Got them and they wrote notes to their sister on the back and dated them!
Rug is from West Elm the Ana. It is reversible too. Which I love because I like changing things up often.
Keep in mind this is an office. We could have added a closet, but it just didn’t make sense for the home, so this Sausalito Cane Armoire from Pottery Barn was the perfect addition. It is so perfect for organizing and hanging her clothes! Notice the mirror is white gold, and wood… tying all the pieces together!
Again, a collection of things that mean a lot on the top with, of course, a couple of plants too! 🙂 This sweet pink lamp was a gift from Brandon’s Mom. It was his great-grandmother, and they converted the old gas-burning lantern into this sweet lamp!
Door knobs that were the perfect little bling from Rejuvenation. Yes, a splurge, but I got the furniture on Marketplace AND the armoire. I used CC points! Woot! Typing this to remind Brandon, just in case he reads this blog and sees how much the door knobs were. lol.
The lighting in this room is so diverse. Great natural light. Salt lamp, the amazing lamp, the soft overhead light and the lamp. I just know this little girl is going to be a little for us and so many!!! I CAN NOT WAIT TO MEET HER!!!
Credits also go to Brandon for giving me creative freedom and for his detail and work on the crown molding, doors, and trim detail on the wall, as well as for putting up with my random marketplace finds and moving around here furniture 928 thousand times! He kept saying, “Are we done with her room now?” lol. Yes, babe, we are done, and she can come now!!
Here is where started earlier in the year!
If you’re curious, here’s the original conversion of this space! When she is older, it will go back to the office, and she will go up or downstairs. The hummingbird, the color on the walls, the curtains—all those fun things stay! I love it so much, and perhaps this little girl will help me tap more into my feminine energy! I grew up with three brothers. Now, my three boys are going to have a sister!!! God, for sure, has a plan for it all.
Here is the original conversion of this space when I first moved here in 2021! Lake Home Office blog post circa 2021.
Also, creation always bounces ideas off, and others add their touch. My girlfriends Abby, Mallory, and Taylor did antiquing with me or allowed me to bounce ideas off and their touch in on her room too!!!
Gosh, I love creating spaces so much. But even more, I can not wait to see God’s little creation and meet this little girl very soon! Thankful for so much… we are ready to meet you little one, when you are ready!
